He climbed until he could climb no higher, stood at the edge of the cliff and surveyed with the skilled eye of a Builder, the pitch, the curve of the rocks below him, the rough and the smooth, the shallow and the deep, no straight lines in nature, no order in the natural beauty, no asking, no giving, no taking...just being.

Standing back from the edge, his hair clipping around his strong jaw, he notices something a bit odd at this elevation, not unheard of, but odd all the same. A cliff top lake, the hues of blues and the brush strokes of blacks, still as glass in the light breeze as if it were alone, not connected to the rough landscape surrounding it or not really caring about it.

His bare feet leading him closer, drawing his curiosity from within, he finds himself at waters edge. The water comfortable as it washed around his ankles, inviting, seductive...he smiles warmly and strips his clothing away, walking deeper into its embrace, slowly, his footing sure, he tries not to cause a ripple, stopping now and then to look around and listen, to become what his surroundings are, to just be.

Taking a deep breath, he sinks below the mirror surface, sure strokes of his strong arms and legs glide him from the shelf he was standing upon, the last of the days light in a prism beneath the surface, he slips deeper into the embrace of the sensual water, no thought of where the bottom maybe, no thought of any in his mind, his body will tell him when he needs to surface, he just keeps going deeper, his eyes searching, learning what is around him, the size and shapes, the waved reflections, the surreal of light and motion being one and the same, the silence, the feeling of being weightless, of being nothing at all in the vast sphere of the above world.

His body telling him its time to breath again, he turns himself upright but makes no effort to hurry his ascent, he tries to slow it if anything, treading under water, as slow as he can go, remembering without thought to control what his body needs, he starts to feel light headed but does not give in to what his body is telling him, closing his eyes, he gives in gently, relaxes and aligns his arms and legs to make his torso sleek and without resistance and as his head comes up above the water, he refuses to let his reflexes and natural survival instinct rule him, he breaths slowly, with purpose and control, treading water softly, then laying back and floating along without concern.

Just before the moons rise, the twilight shows herself, the stars, the constellations, the center of what he's always known as the galaxy before his eyes, being as they have always been, as they will always be, reflecting around him as he floats in the arms of his mistress. Taking it all in, void of all thought, becoming, for the time, part of eternity, the past and the present do not exist as sure as the future has yet to be born, tranquility, peace, silence, the over all feeling of being part of the greater being....

He finds his way to shore, ties up his clothing in a bundle, setting them to the side, raising his arms, feeling the water run down along him, closing his eyes again and breathing in deeply. The moons begin their arc in the sky, illuming the dark, a new world as he opens his eyes and looks about him slowly. The cliffs edge close, he sits and begins to think, not over think mind you, just letting the thoughts run gently and free in his mind...of his purpose, of who he is..

Tying the bundle around his waist he climbs down, bare as the day he was born, not to make a point, not to shock, just because he doesn't want this feeling of being part of the world around him, what he felt and is still feeling to stay with him a little longer, just a little longer...
