So You tell Me

Member Blog post · General

Its a well known fact by now that I killed my last slave. This is not a post about her but gor in general.

what I want to know is what some one is suppossed to expect, I have been doing Gor for a long long time

Ive seen the wild years, Old Gor and all that, as some proclaim it, I just alway call it gor.

Am I to just accept this crap that some call gor, its nothing more than piss poor D/S

I have earned My tags and My status and I'll be stuffed if I am to suddenly be "Nice" because the so called slaves are a "wittle" scared.

I will never moddy coddle slaves, they are here to serve ME not the opposite like some pussy whipped so called Men

No One fights, No One spars, There are more FW Rambos than Warriors, most, not all ~ slaves are princesses who have to be kept in cotton wool, Homes barely interact,

People sit all safe in their homes because their Homes" rules will save them

the light at the end of the tunnel is starting to flicker, as this is not what I sign on for.

I am looking forwards to the reunion this weekend, hopefully see some old faces.

Theres a old saying, if you dont know ASK

So you tell me?

I am Judas

*reads considering if I fall into the "Rambo type Woman" and chuckles* I hide from nobody and take no comfort from safe zones. My Home is and has always been open to all roleplay scenarios within the bounds of what is Gor. The question there being, is My Gor Your Gor or His Gor or even Her Gor? My circus, My monkey? Too much drama and emphasis on silly things stops the roleplay flowing and Gor being enjoyed.... I am, always have been, always will be, Aura, Ramb... Panther....just saying.

MemberJan 12, 2016 11:01 AM

Judas, I would agree with you. Having been brought up in book-Gor ways from the days of MSN, I remember a time when just entering a Gorean room would make my heart race. A person knew their boundaries, and they also knew the consequences for stepping outside them, but that's what made it so adventuresome. Gor in the books was a place of relative unrest if you think about it (otherwise, what reason would Tarl have to save the world?). (continued in next post)

MemberJan 12, 2016 11:05 AM

Yet, in online Gor, there's so much peacefulness that evenings in many homes are spent sitting by the fire drinking. I do not drink in real life, yet I do know if I wanted to get drunk I would do it in real time because I'd have more fun doing it. Goreans, if they truly existed, would decry this kind of life. There are people trying to create role play, but often the stories are so disjointed for one reason or another. (continued)

Homes and individuals don't interact as you've pointed out, and so much Earth culture has invaded this world, creating a level of Gor that is even less than mediocre, and yet there are still some of us old-Goreans about trying to uphold the standard. I, for one, would welcome a Gor where men reminded me I'm free because they allow it. There are less than a handful of you left now, but I'm hopeful the gathering this weekend will help bring people together so that we can bring Gor back ~done~

Firstly, the majority of normal folks read blogs and respond to the question or issue raised. They do not sate their need for attention by sticking their trout into other peoples personal opinions or views and belittling what is their right to respond to a civilised question raised . Secondly, I change no rules, I have stood by My No Zones from the moment I undertook running My Home, which incidentally I do how I like, not by rules that You, self appointed snot of Gor decide. Contd.

MemberJan 12, 2016 2:55 PM

Intelligence may be recorded by a simple number but common sense is a whole different scenario. ... When you lowered your standards and entered My messages offering bottles of oil, you made a valid point Lady, our paths do not cross by choice. My choice has been and will continue to be, to not allow your spiteful words to alter MY personal choices made on how I interact in and run MY Home on Gor.

MemberJan 12, 2016 2:57 PM

My apologies to those actually interested in the valid points Judas and the responses made. Lady, I will return to ignoring each and every comment you make on the grounds that your common sense is evidently way lower than your grand intelligence score...something we hear over and over and dam well over. I am... as always... Auralee !

MemberJan 12, 2016 3:18 PM

I shall be perfectly clear...I don't give two rats asses what anyone in the imaginary world of Gor thinks of Me or My way of doing things, I'm not here to be told how to think or act, and so I won't be. I don't tell any of you how to live, thats not why I'm here either. The fact is not everyone here uses all 33 books as a complete work to define Gor. Most people choose one or two books and say "This is my type Gor." That's the same as using the first twelve letters of the alphabet.

MemberJan 12, 2016 3:25 PM

Bear in mind "time is continuous, people are not"...Those who come to Gor today knowing nothing of it will in fact BE the Old Goreans 30 years from now when the rest of us are dead and gone, and like it or not Gor will continue to evolve by their standards, not ours...Ask Rowan, ask Thunderwolf, ask Longbow...

MemberJan 12, 2016 3:33 PM

The moral of the story folks is simply this "Live as you see fit and enjoy it, life is short, dead is forever."

MemberJan 12, 2016 3:40 PM

Calm down Manon, it's perfectly ok with the rest of us if you continue to be one more cow in the herd, no need to bellow about it....you keep right on following the lead and walking in the shit those in front of you dropped...enjoy...with our compliments.

EléríJan 12, 2016 3:52 PM

Gor is what we make it. The books are a guideline, but are open to interpretation. I prefer to live in the exciting no-zone of the soon-to-be open Port Kar.

MemberJan 12, 2016 3:55 PM

Exactly Eleri, guidelines. Best of luck with the growth of Port Kar.

EléríJan 12, 2016 5:05 PM

I would rather live in the squalid Port Kar, than on a high and mighty throne like some people. Some people above talking about being prissy non-rule breakers need to take a closer look in the mirror.

BartJan 12, 2016 6:16 PM

*Walks up to the boards and sees something that is rather interesting and kinda spot on, then looks through the other scrolls tacked on, then "Oh look, Manon is puffing her chest again and hi-jacking a thread with her "I am Manon, hear me roar" *meow*, I shrug and move on*

BartJan 12, 2016 6:25 PM

So, just keep being me... Got it

MemberJan 12, 2016 6:30 PM

So back to the thread that Judas had posted. This is how I see killing off characters. If the person was killed for valid reasons and the rules of the home you were in were followed, then why the issues. Judas runs his home. He knows what the woman (Slave) did or didn't do. Now as for the characters in Gor, I see gor like any world. Many walks of life out there. Some good, some bad. Some mouthy, some proper. It is how you the r/per plays your character and follows where you are. cont..

BartJan 12, 2016 6:31 PM

Preach it Shainaa!!!

MemberJan 12, 2016 6:32 PM

if you do not like the places or people then stay away from them. Don't be the queen or king out there trying to change people. Just avoid them if it doesn't fit your r/p environment. I watch the blogs and its rather humorous because I don't know many of the characters or met them yet, and I already know which ones to avoid. I'm not a stupid woman when it comes to gor or my r/p. If you don't like the ways Judas is in Asperiche, then don't go to Asperiche. cont...

MemberJan 12, 2016 6:34 PM

If you feel secure in your home, then stay in your home. Others who want to interact will come to you. If not you will be alone. No one controls my character but me the r/per behind the screen. No one controls yours either. You either accept or don't. Pretty easy. I personally like the people the woman speaks ill of in my interacts just because they actually r/p and don't get all snotty when you want to r/p or interact like has happened. Good job r/pers. Hope to interact when I'm brave.

ĶaelJan 12, 2016 6:49 PM

Having come from a high percentage "visual" realm where roleplay is seen more than heard in many forms, what I have seen so far here on Buzzen comes from those very people that are being ill spoken of in this thread. As wisely spoken by the Lady Shainaa, good job r/players and poor show those who judge solely on language used. Language does not dictate r/play skills nor aid the growth of Gor, contribution and interaction does. For those who are standing judge and jury, where is your roleplay?

BartJan 12, 2016 7:31 PM

Manon, reading your posts, the only thing that comes to mind is "This is like watching the pot spray paint the kettle black!"
And btw, you just painted yourself into a corner, love. Enjoy :)

BartJan 12, 2016 7:55 PM

Oh darlin, I think it's cute that you think I am upset by your comments, I just find you amusing, at the very least. Do I envy Petra and Judas? Not in the least. Does it bother me that you won't play in my sand box? Oh god no. Submission rights of a woman? Nope, check that one off too. Your eye color? Really? Oh, and that sharp mind? Squandered. You actually have a rather creative mind, more so than most around here, but you choose to act like a complete cunt rather than put it to good use. :)

BartJan 12, 2016 8:06 PM

Hmmm. You may think that Grym and I are such good buddies, but at the end of the day, we are -not-. Do we share some views? Yep. But I don't pal around with him, nor he with me. I wasn't trying to be offensive, I was stating a rather well known fact. But it's cool. And by the way, in response to your (Agrits, whatever) summons to Cos for Penelope, she is just as good as a Lydian and will not be attending without myself present... So you should probably drop it. Toodles

JudasWJan 12, 2016 8:11 PM

well that,s amazing, all of a sudden its a bitching session.how odd, I am curious by a lot of the replies and thanks for that. Manon I didn't find the need to start a personal attack on any One I spoke generally, so I am asking you to do the same, also Manon stop referring to Petra and My FC , this post has nothing specific to do with that.

BartJan 12, 2016 8:15 PM

Hmmm. I don't know, Manon, why? I run a rather large home for todays standards, and is there drama? you bet your sweet ass there is. Is there fun? Bet the whole god damned farm on it. But the funny thing is, that has always been the case. It's how people deal with it that makes it what it is today. Today, everyone is all "OH! THAT OFFENDS ME AND I AM GOING TO LEAVE AND TAKE MY TOYS TO ANOTHER SANDBOX!!!" Back in the day, we fought, we talked it out, we moved the fuck on. Now? Heh

EléríJan 12, 2016 8:23 PM

I come to online to have fun and amusing adventures. Its an escape for me from the pressures of a very demanding real life. Intelligence is not shown simply by using fancy words. My IQ is 155, but i do not have the need to shout about it on a blog. Typing skills do not necessarily mean you are smart. Even monkeys can be taught to use a typewriter. At the end of the day they are just a monkey that can type.

BartJan 12, 2016 8:40 PM

^Nice

WarrenJan 12, 2016 9:01 PM

Do what you will in No Zones, keeping in mind Gorean standards and possibilities for your station and gender, and the penalties for violating them. Do what you are able in Safe Zones, keeping the same in mind as above. Behaving in a Gorean fashion is a matter unrelated to the zoning of the room one happens to run or be in, and is not inextricably tied to participating in cyber combat.

MemberJan 13, 2016 4:49 AM

You are an awesome Master Judas, i just wasn't a very awesome slave, i tried but Free had been put in my blood so i spoke to you of it it ended as you saw fit. I was more upset about anything because of the "rule of the game of staying away. Heck I had just come back from retiring a name and now had to go again so was a little ticked off is all. and I am sorry. but i wasn't scared and i am a good slave. anyway see everyone when i see you. Bye.

EléríJan 13, 2016 2:16 PM

Being away is just that being away. Arya why are you posting on the blogs if your character is still "away"?

MemberJan 13, 2016 2:40 PM

Because I did. that is all.

ThieryWJan 13, 2016 7:10 PM

That means your away time restarts.

MemberJan 13, 2016 7:32 PM

Either do the time or don't do the time but pick one and stick to your choice...be good or be bad but make a choice and take a stand...none of this middle of the road stuff.

MemberJan 13, 2016 7:38 PM

Personally I can tolerate anything but inconsistencies. Run hot or run cold damnit, but not lukewarm.

DalamarJan 15, 2016 2:24 AM

I can't see Manon's posts. And yes I know why.

This is my first blog post! Yay me!

It used to be that time away was 30 days. This gave the player time to get over themselves after their loss of time and emotional investment in a character they loved. It was also meant to allow said person time to choose a new Caste, name and background, and other small details necessary for new character development. When you enter a room you agree to the rules in the topic, and the unwritten ones too.

DalamarJan 15, 2016 2:27 AM

Such as "If I die i do time away as generally agreed on by those that helped to found Gor in Buzzen by those long ago that pioneered the way, blah blah..." I was one of those people. I helped set those rules, they've been around for a long time, and some random person deciding they're above the rules...who isn't me...gets on my nerves.

Keep track of the perp's profile and kick it when it comes in. Don't feel sorry for it, don't tolerate the begging, cursing and whiny noise.

EléríJan 15, 2016 3:47 AM

Well said.

CHaldeaJan 15, 2016 3:54 AM

I, the Typist, OOC, have a question. I was under the impression that blogland' Can' be used by OOC persons, so they may ask questions, or reply to, or what have You. So, it is a simple question, yea or nay. Can a person be OOC in blogland, so that Thier Char' need not be slapped around needlessly?

WarrenJan 16, 2016 11:15 AM

Yeah, I find it interesting that posting OOC in a blog would restart the time away clock, as the person is neither role-playing or entering into a Gor room. It seems a failure to separate the individual from the character portrayed which one would think role-play standards would be fairly keen on keeping conceptually divided. So, essentially, such a restart doesn't make much sense from a role-play point of view.

banaThieryJan 16, 2016 3:03 PM

Greetings Mistress (CHaldea), if bana may respond respectfully. This one was taught that yes being "OOC" was allowed. However, when a person is doing time away, they should not A) enter into Gorean Role play and B) should not present their "new" or "future" character until time away is up. When a person becomes part of a Home, they also agree to the rules of that Home.

banaThieryJan 16, 2016 3:07 PM

The fourteen day away rule, as bana learned, was intended to allow for a cooling down period so that a person could rebuild a new character. It was also intended to allow a fresh start so that the person returning could remain hopefully anonymous. So that possibly the new character would return free of any past. Respectfully, bana, slave of Master Thiery.

CHaldeaJan 16, 2016 3:50 PM

thank You bana! Of course it makes sense. I began My comment in a 'general' setting, but beans having spilled all over,... I did not believe that letter B) was a broken rule, of 'presenting new char'. I just did not read it that way, My bad. And You know I care deeply when others are hurting, aye, too much. I did not support those actions taken, but new from where the thoughts came. I read on a special girl's profile, quotes, and think they will fit, in closing 'that' sub Topic of blog (cont)

CHaldeaJan 16, 2016 3:52 PM

""Her feelings were easily hurt, a valuable property in a slave girl. Too, she could not control her feelings, another excellent property in a slave girl. Her feelings, vulnerable, deep, exploitable, in her expressions and on her face, betrayed her, exposing her to men, and their amusement, as helplessly as her stripped beauty. They made her more easily controlled, more a slave."
Page 103-104- Tribesmen of Gor

EléríJan 16, 2016 6:42 PM

I disagree Warren. Participating is still being in character. Away means away from Gor not half in half out.

WarrenJan 18, 2016 3:37 AM

How is posting OOC participating IC, Eleri? It isn't even so when one isn't on time away. As such, that doesn't even come close to logical. On the other hand, perhaps that in itself qualifies it to be a Gorean RP rule.

OleanderJan 18, 2016 7:44 AM

In my opinion time away means just that - away. Let's be real here - the character that got killed is not NPC. Without an OOC human behind the character, it does not exist - they are one in the same, they should both do time away. Since this is the pervading opinion of most who r/p here (also evidenced by this discussion) the way I see it "Arya" has a choice: She can do what's expected by doing true time away - or she can latch on to the lone dissenter and do as she pleases.

OleanderJan 18, 2016 7:52 AM

Either decision will lead to how she is seen in the future. I'm not going to tell her what to choose because I dont pretend to have that much power over someone who is not myself nor in my control. Also, I will not be sharing in her consequence - which incidentally will be both IC, and OOC - funny how it works that way.

WarrenJan 18, 2016 2:26 PM

If the OOC player and the IC character are one in the same, there is no point in distinguishing the two, and yet the are often seen as apart. For them to be separate entities at all other times except when the character happens to expire, and only then to be considered to be one in the same, is an inconsitency that has no particular merit outside of role-play rooms. That such an inconsitency happens to appeal to a majority that role-play here, or so it is claimed, does in no way eliminate it.

WarrenJan 18, 2016 2:35 PM

Yes, it is funny that how one behaves OOC often directly affects how one is treated IC. Funny in a sort of a dark humour way, in that it is amusing that while the separation of player and character is often raised as a standard of role-play Gor in concept it is almost as often ignored in practice.

banaThieryJan 18, 2016 3:12 PM

bana believes that is what Master (Judas) is referring to in His original post. It seems that the philosophy illustrated in the books is what intrigued and drew people to Gorean role- play. A standard which made Gorean role play different from others, over the years, is now quite often ignored. If people don't attempt to follow the philosophy, if there are no standards or rules that hold us accountable then what is the use?

CHaldeaJan 18, 2016 5:27 PM

I understand both points of view, and I dont argue either side. and Im Positive that the typist 'Ayra' will neither be coming back AS a char ~ Ayra, or will be posting anything again, having gotten a firm' message.

ThieryWJan 18, 2016 5:47 PM

The rules have been "no posting in or on a Gorean room, blog or anything Gor related for 14 days". Stay out of a Gor room in a name you plan on using in RP or blogs here. It's fairly simple for most people.

CHaldeaJan 18, 2016 5:55 PM

okie doke. Think we got er, now. The only way an 'away' person, or ANY ooc business person can communitcate, is Privately, with no hint of gor' in email addy.. eh?

ThieryWJan 18, 2016 6:01 PM

For the sake of simplicity, yes.

ThieryWJan 18, 2016 6:04 PM

And if someone thinks the rules are wrong or unfair? Then don't go to the places that follow them.

WarrenJan 19, 2016 2:06 AM

The philosophies expressed in the Gorean books have nothing to do with the contrived standards of online Gorean role-play, though adherring to them could be said to be so. But, the existance of a standard says nothing of the merit of it, no matter how long it has been so. However, within the context of the vast majority following the standard and actually giving those that spend time away a new start it would be fine enough. As such it may as well be maintained, in hope for a future it is so.

OleanderJan 19, 2016 4:41 AM

"The philosophies expressed in the Gorean books have nothing to do with the contrived standards of online Gorean role-play " -- Agreed. However since we are talking about role-play specifically, I don't see that someone's personal belief would have any bearing on accepted role-play standards. Not everyone participating in Gorean role-play actually lives those philosophies - ergo, role-play : ) Thanks for acknowledging there is a standard, and its' necessity.

JudasWJan 19, 2016 7:20 AM

Warren does not role play , but He sits and criticizes Us that do, What ever You do in life has rules and guidelines, and online Gor is No different. Now Warren as the only true Gorean that has ever existed even thou Gor is fictional, will consistently come and try to belittle online Gor for those of Us that enjoy it. So as always I take little or No notice of his self opinionated ramblings, and will continue to enjoy my gor. As some one that does NOT role play His opinions are worthless.

WarrenJan 20, 2016 9:44 PM

Heh, I role-played in GCN and will do so here, when I am ready to. Gor is indeed a collection of fiction, but much of the philosophies expressed within, that part of Gor that I find most interesting, are based on real world philosophies adapted by Norman. This alone makes most of the ideas presented in Gor adaptable to the real world. I am by no means the only one that understands that. As for belittling online Gor, I do not. However, some of it I don't care much about, which niggles some.

WarrenJan 20, 2016 10:03 PM

I would say, Oleander, that most that role-play Gor online do not live by Gorean philosophies and ideals, and that most have very little understanding of them. I certainly don't claim to be all-knowing or all-understanding of them. Seeing as most of us here were raised in cultures that pay lip-service to honour at best, at least those of us in the West, it is no surprise Gorean ideals are challenging for us to grasp, and for many to even mimic in role-play.

DalamarJan 22, 2016 1:46 AM

It used to be, in the very far back days of the past, that if you died, you didn't come back AT ALL. Obviously this was changed. If the current rules are two weeks with no room/blog/whatever contact then that's that. I'm not backing any specific person saying this, merely the law, if it could be called a law.

It isn't a big thing, really. Considering the other alternatives to be in contact with people (Skype, Yahoo, phones) not being on Buzzen ought not be an issue.
