The agreed Gor RP rules been around for years
Member Blog post · Lifestyle
I am just curious, there was a basic set of standard rules of roleplay done back when there were many homes and hundreds of people doing Gor
Now there is very very few doing gor and suddenly the rules are No good, according to the "new" movement

These are NOT simply for Asperiche but they are on our website for All to read.
What's so wrong with them?
It will be interesting to find out.
I am Judas
ps Haigan I know you wont agree on anything ,

There was the same challenge then, too. Many homes, yet only 5 are on the list. 100’s of people but only a percentage in those 5 homes. As has been mentioned in another thread people should ask questions if they are not sure. The fact of the matter is they don’t, or won’t. That is the fundamental root of the problem, not the rules themselves. Whether it is fear of being laughed at, the frequent name calling and bickering amongst people or simply a lack of knowing who to speak to to get a >>
>> sensible answer, it is the responsibility of everyone who role plays Gor on Buzzen to support each other. Whether it is liked or not the discussion community has pulled together more Gorean folk to join in a discussion in a little over a week than I imagine any other single act has done in the best part of 10 years. Clearly there is an appetite for people to want to role play, to learn and to enjoy themselves and if discussing things to make that clearer, even if it is simply a case of >>

You’ve been around for a long time, Judas, probably the longest of those still here, longer than Me that’s for sure and you have a lot of knowledge that could benefit a lot of people. The focus isn’t on those who want to throw a spanner in the works. Balls to that. The focus should be on those who don’t. Those who are looking for the same thing. Help those people out. Explain why the rules that Yourself, Rowan, Ludo >>

That being said, I’m not here to tell you or anyone what to do with their time. All I can do is offer an opinion when I see something of value that could be of benefit to more. Consider this ... Me, You, Rowan, Ludo, Thiery, Marlenus... insert countless others here who earned a W after their name. We all did so by training >>
>> sparring and practicing with each other. We all benefitted from each other by doing so. We didn’t/don’t have to like each other but we all understood it would be of benefit by doing so. The same applies here. No-one has to like each other or even RP with each other. But there is a chance here the majority can benefit.
Ah yes, when people actually trained for Caste. What a wonderful thing it was. Did we laugh at each other? Sure did, but that's how we learned, by doing and getting our arses kicked. And we benefited from it all.
At the time those rules were penned and discussed our corner of Gor didn't have hundreds of people in it. In all honesty it didn't have more than 2-3 times what it has now, if even that many. Those 5 homes were the largest/most influential of the time, and being led by men who had their finger on the pulse. We set an example by putting aside our differences in the interest of something better for everyone in the community. There's a reason we did it this way and not with representatives--
from any and every home around GCNuzzen. The reason is we had meetings, and votes, and the bullshit that comes with that(which you're starting to see already). And by the end of those meetings, and votes, nothing ever got done because those who didn't agree with how a vote went simply wouldn't uphold those results. In short, nothing changed. For years the only thing that changed was descent into the shadow of what used to be; where the meek inherited the scraps left behind when leaders left.--
We set that example in the hopes that our effort, through good faith and actual progress might have more impact than the half dozen attempts to bring everyone together that fell through. It's a noble effort, but it's proven to be a misguided one, half blinded by the stars in the eyes of fools who think this community is a single entity. It isn't. What's more is that by the end of this experiment the division will be even more pronounced than it was, as we learned years ago. --
At the end of the day what will you have to show for it? The same definitions with new words, maybe? Other than that the same grudges between the same people, and maybe even some new bullshit for people to harbor and hold onto because they needed a reason not to like one another. There's a reason the standards way up there are still relevant today after nearly a decade since we talked through them. But until people are ready to set an example nothing will come of it.
Most people already knew how to behave, already knew certain rp practices are bad, and what punishments are for breaking those guidelines. I didn't have a problem with that group, and i still wish it well. But I've been around long enough to have seen this sort of revamping and indirect necroposting to know how it's going to eventually end. They might work a few things out in there that'll help, and i wish it more success, but history tends to repeat itself. I left that group recently. >>>
It was gradually turning into a garbagefest outside the topics , and people were leaving because they had to sort through the mudslinging, and i'm guilty of tossing a handful or two myself. I went in there knowing there were people in there i didn't like, and knew the temptations. I pointed something out to a certain controvecial woman about giving people control over yourself if you react in ways people want you to, and forgot to apply it to myself too. I might even let her get a chuckle out
of that when I see her again. The idea behind the group was a good-natured one, but some of the people weren't. Toss me in there if you want, the poisonous ones will. I do hope that it at least partially succeeds in its mission, and some of those vague, hard to understand existential issues get hammered out. And i posted the link to your site, Judas, but it barely rippled the water much. They saw it as possible guidelines for what they wanted to do. Not actual rules. Weird, eh?
Lets simply tweak what's there Not try to re invent gor.
I'd rather leave it alone entirely. The guidelines we have are fine, it's the people that changed. As a group they're uneducated and /or lazy. I see no reason to dumb down what works just fine so people don't have to learn and maintain standards on how to behave.
