The Final Discovery
Member Blog post · General
After spending a few days enjoying the ocean and getting some much needed rest I press on up the mountainside and back into the jungle. Spending 3 ahn cutting my way through dense foliage I emerge into a clearing filled with fallen rocks and waterfalls.
There are Varts flying about which tells me there are caves embedded in those high walls of stone and I begin to search for them…it did not take long to discover several caves some just a natural part of the landscape and others obviously carved out by man or beast. I searched them each in time spending 3 days till I found one that went deep into the wall and then upward toward the top of the Mountain. I spent another 2 days within this cavern finding many skeletons of man and beast as well as finished walls with dwellings carved out.
Still there is no sign of a race of people who must have lived here in ancient times. Continuing upward as if driven by a force to reach the end of my journey hoping against hope that all my questions would soon be answered. Soon the cave dwellings ended and the walls became smooth and a staircase toward a entrance gate became visible to me and I approached it slowly yet with anticipation.
The entrance lead to a flat area with gardens and statues and then to a very large hole with symbols etched upon it
I would discover much later that these symbols were actually an alphabet which when decoded produced a language, a language of the history of this place this Island. Walking through the hole in the wall and into the light of day I found myself in a wondrous city cut into the mountain high above the Island floor…it was rather large with a river of water flowing right through the middle with beautiful buildings erected by masters of architecture.
I would spend 6 months here deciphering documents and building their language till I could finally read of the history that lived here… Of the battle between the Gottie People down below as was etched in the seplecure in the graveyard and the Ugottie People in this city in the clouds. In some cataclysmic event all the people of both tribes died instantly their flesh burned from their bodies leaving just the skeletons…I also learned the name of the Island I was living on in a document sealed by the scribes it is called Katoteros Island and now it is my home to tame and to rebuild and to enjoy. For now I am all alone…Just me, my tarn…smiles…and the Beast.

This brings to an end my story and for some of you it was an enjoyable tale for others as was brought to my attention via messenger it was a trite piece of Disney gor not worthy to be printed. Everyone has a right to their viewpoint and I thank each of you both encouraging and discouraging for your comments. May the gods you worship bless you and may the demons you fear stay away from your door.
I truly enjoyed , ty for sharing it ! Can’t wait to read your next adventure ..
I enjoyed it too Quin, it certainly captures the mystery and myth surrounding Katoteros as we felt it during role play around that island. A good choice of illustrations too. Well done Akab!
I liked it.
I'm impressed you created such a tale, and the images are glorious. Please be proud of you.
Oh! A new Island with Varts, mysterious beast and a tale of intriguing woe. How entrancing a story you weave.
Happy empire building, Quin!
*wiggles in excitement at what the Master has discovered* it all sounds very very muchly exciting Jarl !
Where was the Disney in this tale? That sounds like an unhealthy dose of envy from Someone who can only wish to have an imagination like Yours. Haters gonna hate, that's their condition. Brush them flakes off Your shoulder and carry on!
Amen and pass the salt !
