Echoing a Statement

Nothing here is meant as a personal attack, so please read with an open mind before you decide to respond.......
Judas is right in one aspect: The books haven't changed. Haigan is right in another: Gor has "evolved" all right, but certainly not for the better.
"Old Gor" is gone? I think a better analogy is "Respectable Gor" is gone. "This" Gor has become Gen-X and Millenial Gor.
It's a Gor that welcomes dishonored characters back with open arms, back to their same homes, because rules don't matter here.
It's a place where Honor no longer matters. Someone can't keep their word? Eh, no worries. Tell us your tale of woe, and we'll pat you on the back and tell you it's ok, here's your safe space, since rules don't matter here.
Dualling? No problem, you can play that part in different areas. Better yet, bring back that shelved character from 10 years ago, no one will notice. Rules don't matter here.
It's a place were more sparring takes place in the blogs, than in the arena or the pits. Hammers wield more strength than steel.
Knowledge? Who needs it? There's no need to read the books, here's a few websites and some quotes.
Want to be something? Here's some tags. Don't worry about training, just put them on and you can be instant “insert your Caste of choice here". We'll even create a place where you can do it without any training or oversight. Just go for it, no one will care. Standards be damned!
Plenty of people came to the Gorean Community Group to describe what they would do to get back to where we could be. There were some great ideas there. Did everyone agree? No, we didn't, but we still created the Trading Post to implement those ideas and give it a chance. Who was the first naysayer? None other than Haigan. The people who showed up regularly were Judas, Iskander, and myself. We're making the attempt, what happened to the rest of you?
No one cares about the Gorean Community as a whole. No one cares about the principles or authenticity of Gor any longer. You're all happy in your safe places. You make it up as you go.
And that's a shame.

Well said.
I agree with most said here.. yes Gor has evolved, but not all, like my storyline is bad at least in my opinion. I stay in the lanes expected of a FW, but I also listen to the slaves coming from Earth and their modern ideas and try to incorporate them whenever it might work into stuff. As for the dishonor... it’s got to stop and that starts with us.
There are only maybe 6 of us (if that) who care about Honor. Most take the path of least resistance and that's how we end up with the shitty places, shitty people and shitty things that are Buzzen Gor.
Must be why I mostly roleplay by myself
You place Yourself high Thiery...i'm sure there are many of Gor who have honour. As to knowledge, there are many who have read the books and adhered to its writings. i, for one has spent many many hours researching her slavery and loved doing so. At the moment i'm taking a break from Gor but i still enjoy reading how it is progressing. Both Judas and Haigan have their opinions as to how Gor should progress. Maybe there is room for both rather than Gor deminishing completely into oblivion?
butterfly for that to happen, we a Goreans need to find a middle ground where we get along, dont have agree, just be adults about it, and I dont see that happening soon
And surely that is where the Trading Post comes in? Its not for everyone, that's for sure. But it is a start
Exactly butterfly, compromise is a good start.
correct, but once again the egos of some of the bigwigs of Gor today are split and refuse to compromise, so until they drop it somewhat, it wont happen
then ignore the 'bigwigs'....and make it happen
we are
Who are the "bigwigs"?
dunno....the '6'
Who are they?
errrmmm You said ' the 6'
Oh. That 6. So you really don’t know what you’re talking about? Just looking for some attention?
oh really Thiery......get real
I just heard who you are/were. Run along. I think irrelevance is a way of life for you. Be well.
it matters not who i am/were Thiery. And You're dismissal is totally irrelevant. i still have an opinion. And Yours makes me laugh !
Well, as long has your happy before you flitter away. That’s the important thing. Repeat that as your mantra. That’s the important thing.
Thiery...do what makes You happy...Your cryptic remarks have no relevance to me.
What cryptic remarks? I’m not really paying attention anymore.
then why reply? and to be honest....i'm bored of this now. Get real and start commiting to what the new Gor is
Lol @ “the new Gorâ€. You mean the one where you run in and out of RP for whatever reason to the same place over and over because that’s the only place that will have you? That new Gor? Of “committing†is your standard why not post in your Gor RP name or the last one you used before fleeing again?
ohhhh nasty. i've only been of one Home....yes i went to another and realised it wasn't for me. Then i returned to the only Home i'd known. As to the only Home that will have me....fear not Thiery, there are other Homes that have offered me safe haven
“Safe†being the word there. Who were you when you were in Gor? You seem proud of your record in Gor. Step up and tell us who you were.
oh Thiery...i thought You knew.....aka - 'I just heard who you are/were. Run along. I think irrelevance is a way of life for you. Be well'.
Okay, sahasra. Have a good night. It’s what? 12-1 in the UK?
its 1 pm. lovely interplay... enjoy Your evening :)
*am
I always do.
i just want whats best for Gor..whatever the outcome
Oh, I’m sure.
I've seen butterfly's RP, she's been around a long time and can easily dance circles around anyone commenting on this blog. I think she's right to have her own opinions of who and what is or isn't acceptably Gorean. The Books haven't changed but there's been a damned lot of them written that often contradict each other. Gor isn't two or three books, it's thirty-four of them now. Have you read each one? I have and anything that is in any one of those books is, in fact, part of Gor now.
Easily? Oh I dunno... I have been around for 25 years or more... if I were so inclined to dance... lol
By the way, just kidding
I forgot how to dance
Well, since I’m the only other one commenting on this blog (and Solveig at the start) that means she can dance circles around me. I’ll concede that. That’s a pretty dumb comparison though. “she can dances circles....†That would be like me saying that since I have been in the same city 10-11 years I should have more knowledge of what it takes to keep a place going or that since I took the time to train for my caste and RP being a tarnsman for the last 10-11 years I’m a better tarnsman than 99%
of the people here. You wouldn’t know that though. You don’t train for caste, you don’t support anything that may or may not benefit you. You throw shade on anything and everything that doesn’t benefit you. You haven’t come up with anything to make RP better except your “find a sponsor†merda. This is Gor RP; not AA. Now you’ll come back and say your place had EIGHT people in it one night!! Big fucking deal. I’ve been in rooms with 40 people in them back in the day. Back when A guy would groan
Because of all the people he had to greet and acknowledge and miss the action in the room. When you have done anything to help the community here then open your mouth. You’re just one of the plethora of people here who is among the honorless. Do SOMETHING to be useful here. Help yourself out. And no. I haven’t read all 34 Gor books. Jeez, you act like that entitles you to an extra cookie on the short bus with the rest of the people who’s only exposure to a Gor is falling victim to you.
Eh scuzz me, I go to the Trading Post regularly so get my name up there in lights!! Lol
I See the crèche has let out early again
Last night as we were speaking Bashir, you asked Me what My thoughts were about Your post, well I couldn't put My feelings into the right words, but I think I figured it out. Now please keep in mind this is MY personal take and opinion and no one has to like them but You did ask though My response is long enough I will post it under My own blog.
I do miss some of the crazy people I used to Gor with, many I do not. Too many just didn't follow any of the rules. I probably should have been stabbed in the neck a few times but no one did. But I had some fun as a Phy once upon a time not that I ever really found much opportunity to do much of it.
You wouldn't happen to have been Siren, would you, Red?
More on topic: The efforts are misguided at best, and conscious efforts in futility at worst. The ship didn't just sink some years back. It caught fire, sank, and then got splintered by many collisions on its way to the deepest parts of obscurity, all the while various undertows spread pieces of it like ashes in the wind. What you're describing, Bashir, is nothing new. The only real difference between what you're talking about up here three days ago, and what I was talking about over six years
Ago is that the head count on those who would, and should set an example is somewhere between slim and none. Every few years this idea for meetings, and a central meeting place, and one room, one Gor was floated. Every few years we tried it. Every few years we held votes. Every few years it went nowhere because the people who voted on the losing side wouldn't uphold anything that they didn't agree with anyway, and thus nothing really changed. Then people began leaving. More left. And then more.
Then something miraculous happened! The numbers started growing again, right around 2010-2011ish. The problem is they were the wrong people coming back. The ones who liked dualling, and onlineisms, and celebrating ignorance of the books that saying things like "well when I started out this is how I was taught" was good enough for the rest of them. If any of you really want things to be better you all need to take a real good look at where you all are and what you all do in Gor, and for Gor.
As they say in the service "shit rolls down hill". When the people in charge stop setting the example, and stop enforcing accountability then the entire operation starts to slip. The men aren't acting like men, so the women stop acting like women, and then the slaves stop acting like slaves. Eventually you get left with everyone going through the motions, nobody believing in what they do, and nobody caring if it measures up. From an outside perspective this whole thing is just soft.
The good fight was fought and lost a long time ago. Even rats know when to abandon a sinking ship. Why are you all still trying to piece it back together with popsicle sticks and paper machete when many of you can't even remember what it looked like in the first place?
